Santandar Consumer USA

I bought this vehicle almost 4 years ago from CarMax. The price was 13K, I put 6K in CASH down on the car. Here it is now almost four years later and I am told that I STILL owe over 11K on the vehicle! That is a rip off! My interest is over 25%!! I finally gave up after getting NOwhere with them and told them to come get it, which they did. I stopped paying on it and now even the repo company are comeplete butt munches! I just want to get my personal items out of the vehicle. Santandar told me it would cost me 2,300 to get the car back. Well they wanted it and now they can have it. I'd rather file bankruptcy and start all over again. I can take that 2,300 and go get myself a car in PA at an auction with NO car payment and have peace of mind. They called me repeatedly at my home, work and cell after asking repeatedly to STOP calling several times a day. They called my referrals #'s and left messages with them as well. Don't EVER get a car financed through them, I never will again.

Why would you sign a contract with 25% interest and then blame the loan company for your bad decision? Your complaint is ignorant and not valid.

Please post it in a place for people that made *** decisions not where people are making legitimate complaints. Duh...

I recently reported on a different post in a comment about my dilemma?. So to spare from repeating myself I will just tell you an update;.

I am pleased to report that the refinancing for my car went through at my own bank, in the end my brother had to put his car up as collateral and cosigned but we got ourselves out of the loan at Santander.. I encourage anyone who has a loan with Santander to see if you can refinance at your own bank that you trust;. I have also warned my bank that Santander is shady and facing lawsuits and to be sure they mark the payment as in full when they pay them off and to make sure absolutely sure they are off my car title|. I now have a refinance through my bank of $194 payments each month for 4 yrs, compared to the 2 1/2 years I had left on the Santander loan at $298;.42 each month".

Putting $104 back into my pocket each month that I need for living expenses, and the interest rates were lower because I now qualify for lower interest rates;. Please see if you can refinance at your own bank, it is worth the trouble.

As soon as citifinancial sold our loan to these lying jerks I have had nothing but problems. Their customer service is the worst in the industry.

They said they set up a due date change for me and then never actually changed anything on the account.

They told me it had been completed and then to call back and find nothing was done on it at all.. Worst people to deal with

I lost my job in November 2009 and I have been asking Santander Totta Portugal for help ever since and the result is nothing. I have phoned, e-mailed and gone to my branch to prone that I am un-employed and have been paying off my loan.

The problem is I can only pay a certain amount and the bank is constantly herassing me. The day I went to my branch I was involed in an accident and because I hear with hearing aids, they were damaged in the accident. I am waiting for the guilty party to pay for new ones. I contact Totta and so did my girlfriend to explain everything but I can not hear and they phone everyday at all hours.

How can I talk to them if I can not hear. This has been explained, but still it does not stop. If Santander Totta does not want my payment, why do they not just send me a letter or e-mail stating so, in black and white. Why the herassement?

I am giving all I can. Must I give my blood too?

My e-mail is: ander1_80hotmail.com

Please everyone call the FTC at 1-877-FTC-HELP the only way we can stop them is to get the FTC to step in they cannot handle personal issues but they can take your complaint and then as others have said if they get enough complaints they will do something.

:( :( I wish whoever deals with this company the best of luck because you are going to need it! My husband has been fighting with them for the past month to get them to do a "re-adjustment" on our loan and they keep giving him the run around saying its being reviewed its being reviewed EVERY week!

He has asked to speak to a supervisor and they tell him well i can put one on but all they are going to do is tell you the same thing i did.

then when he asks to speak to someone in the re-adjustment department they tell him "oh we don't trasfer calls to that department" really?!?! Before this company we had Drive Financial and they were just fine no problems what so ever and now this!

:( :( Since this company has taken over on my car payment I have been very unhappy. I handle my parents business for them since they are elderly.

I am listed as a authorized caller in the file and they have no problem calling me. However when I called to request a deferment I was told one of my parents have to request it. The late payment was due to my father being hospitalized for 2 months and diagnosed with leukemia (cancer). We were unable to make a payment due to unexpected bills. After my mother called to request it, they kept denying the deferment saying they didn't have proof of our insurance.

We were told to fax a copy of insurance card to 800-417-**** and did that on 11/17/10. They received and supposedly forwarded to be updated but we paid the note to avoid trouble with them and just made arrangement on our other bills. we are still trying to get them to update our insurance info as of today 1/14/11 after faxing on 1/13/11 and confirming it was received.I am trying to figure out a way to pay off my parents loan because i don't want to have to deal with this company. They seem to be fraudulent and just down right rude.

After reading all of the complaints online about them i called and told a supervisor I was recording her and if they did anything with all the multiple faxes of our personal car insurance info we would file a complaint and try to file suit. I asked her if she was aware of all the complaints online about the company and she said yes. i asked what they planned to do about it and she was silent which meant nothing.she told me she did not give me authorization to record her and that santander didn't make me send in our personal info to those faxes, we chose to.

I disconnected the call because if that isn't shady I don't know what is! I will be waiting on the first class action suit against them...somebody needs to do it!!!!!!

:( I too had my Citi Financial loan taken over by this company. Never had any problems until they took over my account.

I started receiving calls stating I was delinquent on my account even though I had just made a payment at the beginning of December. Every time I called and talk to these people they were very rude. Finally, they told me to make a $332 payment and my car would be paid off. So I did this.

Only to check my account the next day, they said I still owed $16.66. So I called and was told they would waive this fee. A few days later my account showed $0.00 being owed. So I thought I was done finally.

I was wrong. Instead they pulled out a $300 payment, took the $16 they said I owed and told me they would refund my $284 within 30-45 days. So, I went to my bank and went to stop payment. When I called Santander, they told me they would hold my title until the $16 was paid even though they agreed to waive that amount.

Now my rent check is going through my bank account and will put me into the negative thanks to these jerks. Every time I call the 1888 number, I get foreigners speaking broken english and they never provide any help. Also, DO NOT SETUP AUTO PAY!!!! They told me it was my responsibility to cancel it even after the car was "paid off".

They never once told me to do this and acted as if the $300 being paid to them was my fault.

Yet they sure as heck accepted the payment!!! I hate this company and I hope they're put out of business so nobody else has to deal with them!!!

After several legal notices were sent to Santander USA, they continually refuse to recognize a Court Order which releases me from the vehicle loan debt I obtained through CitiFinancial Auto and reassigns that debt to another person. Relentless, phone calls, 3-5 times daily.Below is a list phone numbers they call from:(214) 614-****(888) 222-****(214) 237-****(214) 614-****(214) 540-****(888) 876-****(817) 887-****(469) 385-****(214) 237-****(214) 540-****

SANTANDER AUTO FINANCE COMPANY

Santander is ripping people off. took over my loan from CITI and my life is a living ***. My balance has started over my car was 28000 with interest. I've paid my car pmts for 6 year and they still say I owe 11K this is not right ripping people off. I was sent you a letter where only 100.00 go toward principle balance. I missed 1 pmt in oct and late with nov they came and repo my car.My pmts are 491 therefore balance owed for 2 months is around 1200. Santander wants 1700. We need to pull together and file a class action lawsuit against this company. DO NOT EVER TAKE A LOAN WITH THIS COMPANY

You are a company employee. Deductive reasoning indicates you are online only in some weak attempt to burnish santander's image.

Factually santander has been voted worst bank for many years in the U.K.

Facually, the TX A.G. is investigating the company. As they provide jobs, the onus will be on people to keep the pressure up.

I agree! I am actually going through the same thing.

Paid off Car and no title to show for it.

My loan with my car was with Franklin Capital, I won the car in my divorce so I took over payments even though everything is still in his name. I get a phone call saying my loan is now with this Santander company because they bought out Franklin Capital ( I have been with Franklin for years and knew the 1 person who I have dealt with every month by this time, they knew the situation and always had great customer service). So I asked the rep. on the phone if my title would be in my name; I only had a few months left on payments, of course they said yeah sure. 4 months later I am still waiting on my title and refund check, because I over paid my last payment just in case they tried to add fees. I have hand written letters to the main office, I have e-mailed every email address I could possibly find for this company. Every time I call I get a recording that sends my call through a loop of questing because, now that its paid off I no longer exist in the system. I cant even get a real person on the phone, or any response from anyone that works there.

Help

I made a payment on February 1- 2013 to Santander Consumer USA. They received payment on the 6th and did not process it. My truck was repossessed on the 11Th. I called several times to confirm my payment with them. They claim they have not received the payment yet. I asked if it was setting on someones desk. I see no reason for a company to process the payments when they are received. I had to pay charges to the repossession company CAR. The repossession Co. requires cash only and they do not give you a receipt. My email is bob46x46@***.net/Phone 724-787-****

Customer passed away and family can't get information

My husband financed a car through them. He passed away this past January and did not leave a will. I, his widow, have been trying to get information on the loan (whether he had life insurance on the loan, what the pay off is, ect). The customer service agent said she couldn't give me any information at all with proof of executor. I explained it will cost me several thousand dollars to be made executor of estate and I was not will to do that just to get information on his loan. She basically told me tough luck. Other than the frustration of being fought on doing the right thing, my biggest complaint is they are going to end up repossessing the car which almost certainly has life insurance on it. In my opinion, that is theft.

Financing Fraud

I would greatly appreciate any information on how to sign up to join this class action lawsuit. I bought a 2004 Taurus used in 2006 and financed through Citi Financial Auto, the loan was then sold to Santander without my consent. I totaled my car this past Oct, Gap won't cover it saying that I have exhausted the Coverage period (72 months. I haved learned from research that this Finance company "front loaded" my loan and all my payments went to interest NOT principle and now they say I owe ANOTHER 8 grand after insurance. PLEASE CONTACT ME Jholloway6881@***.com

Did you read the contract? If so you would have known that up front.

Whose fault is it? Yours because you signed the contract.

Do I like companies like this? No and I don't sign their contracts either.

Harrassing and a Ripp off!!!

I have a 2005 Nissan altima financed through this company!!! I hate it! I have had it for a year and 5 months. My balance has only went down $1,000!! If I keep this car for the 6 years I was financed for, it'll be a total of $30,000!!!# It is ridiculous! I have told them to come get the car! They still haven't came and got it yet and they still call me everyday, 5 times a day! It's crazy! I tell them every time that I have told them to come get it and the representative act as though they don't see the "note" on the account. Then they ask for me to hold, then they respond with, "Oh! I see it! We will update your account." Guess what?!! They call back the next day with the same thing! I'm tired of the calling, quit calling and come get the car! I'm mot making sny more payments! I'm tired and have had enough!!!!

Did you not look at your contract??? It will show your loan amount, percentage rate, and the total amount you will have paid at the end of the loan.

By letting them repossess your car you are destroying your future credit. Bad decision!!!

Charged too early, cannot get my overdraft fees back with statement!

I called cs on january 4th to set up auto pay for january 11th. cs rep was great, friendly, everything you could ask for. I get an email that I was charged January 5th. I called them, was told it would take 72 hours to pull the phone call, verify that I actually wanted the payment out on January 11th, then I had to call them back (have you heard their automated system... gun to head is all needed after that). I asked for a manager, the rep told me she would tell me the same thing (how rude...). I spoke with a manager, explained to her that I'm working 14 hour days out of state, I don't have time to call back to help THEM fix THEIR ERROR. I demanded a faster urn around time (working in CS myself, I can pull a phone call in less than a minute). So I was told they'd expedite the process and call me back the next day. FINE. They did not call me back the next day, but the day after. FINE. Told me they could refund it, I told them to just keep it... I was already negative in my bank and I was getting paid again in two days. Was told I could send bank statements and get my fees charged, refunded. I did that... and then got questioned because something was missing. I literally printed out my statement, and faxed it. I get calls from a woman, call back, and don't get her. She's on lunch so the rep cannot see my fax, cannot do anything. It this point, (a week and a half after the issue happened) I told them to just close the complaint. I was mentally drained from this experience. I'm going to pay my loan off as FAST as I can, NOT refinance (like I was going to) through them again, and pay the darn $70 in fees I had to pay my bank. After 3 years of paying my payments on time, they screw up, and take 7+ days to fix it and it did not get fixed, I'm DONE with them. If you pay payments on time, ask for an auto pay for being late one of maybe 5 times, you will be taken advantage of. Terrible, terrible, terrible company. When has it ever been the case that a company makes their customers pay for their mistakes? 2013 sure is a good year for Santandar Consumer Finance

Santander ruined my credit

Dear Sir/Madam: I am grateful for your support. during the time i have purchased my car my credit was 575. so, the loan monthly payment was at 18% which is ripp-off. Anyway, I have made 35 payment on-time. I requested to modify my loan and Santander offered me lower monthly. but at the end they added so many fees. It is a disgrace and a greed. Setting an online payment was a MISSION. i have to call every month and incur $10.95 fee. The modification loan expired and Santander kept deducting the modified monthly payment. The balance of $360 plusXXX in fees was reported as derogatory on my credit. my credit went from 735 down to 613. I repeatly asked to correct and remove as i was making my payment. I have repeatly requested SANTANDER to modify my loan when my score was 732 but they would not even listen to me. I want to refinance my loan but my lower credit score would not let me. Again, Santander Consumer has ruined my credit. What can I do fix it for me? and for everyone who has become a victim? It is time to bring this to justice. I worked hard to have a higher credit and i amot letting Santander ruin my credit and others!!!

The reason why people still owe is this:

Every day you get charged interest.

When your car note is due, (on due date or a few days before)

You have an amount of interest, that equals or dwarfs your actual car note.

The only way around this, is two things.

1) Pay early. Like two weeks before its due to keep interest amounts low.

2) Pay double your car note on any day before its due.

I feel bad for people having a hard time. Just hang in there. And look for ways to build your credit up more, so you'll be a good catch for bank, and not another collections case.

I am going through the same thing. My car should be paid off in October and now I'm being told I have a balloon note.

I financed my car for six years and now what they are telling me is I still owe over 12,000. I'm getting to the bottom of this.

Easy to explain. The finance company are thieves and look to rippoff people.

Santander Does Not Want to Honor Settlement Letter

I received a letter from Santander offering a fifty percent discount in the balance of my loan. It is in their stationary with my name and loan number.

It says to call by a certain date but their is no pay by date. I called them to take advantage of the offer. They say the letter was sent in error. They also want payment within seven days of the call by date yet the pay by date was open ended.

One if their reps informed me yesterday if I don't pay the full amount they can't assure me further action won't be taken. I will be submitting payment via certified mail and sending copies to the Attorney Generals office. Many people have had cars repoed awaiting their title. I was to receive mine within seven days of submitting the settlement amount.

So now Santander wants to take back the settlement amount and threaten me with repo. It's not going to happen.

How interesting. I received this same correspondence in February.

I checked with an attorney to see what my options were. Like you I'm in California but their company is based in Texas. The attorney told me what mattered was California law. He also informed me legally they did not have to honor the letter if I was in default on the loan.

He suggested I tread lightly - and I did. After a diplomatic conversation with one of the managers, she agreed to accept my payment within 30 days - and they did and I received my title promptly. I learned years ago when someone has something you need not to talk trash to them. I appealed to the manager and she worked with me.

I was blessed. I hope you too got closure in a positive way and received your title.

Blessings to you all dealing with Santander. I have to say it WAS a rough ride.

*** poor all the way around

first off never received info they bought out united auto credit corp.Took over 3 months to get a payment processed, then the day I got hold of someone from there, they pretty much called me a liar that they notified me through phone and letter.Which I never received either.Next spent half a day to get right routing number to pay off loan completely. Then they told me they didn't have my title to give me after I paid the car off in full. One year later numerous trips to dept. of transportation still no title,I can't sell car which is depreciating evry day. Can't traid it in.Can't talk to anyone there on the pone that's a big *** joke. And I shouldn't have to spend my money on a title to begin with that should have been sent to me after paying the car off.EARLY!!!
